Ishan,

Try getting a Canondale F7 or trek 4300. Both are good Hardtail bikes .. A double suspension would be even better ... Try speaking to red Rooster racing in bangalore they have Giant bikes now available in india ... After Having oprganised MTB HIMACHAL for over 6 years now I can vouch for the fact that Indian MTB;s are no use ... you are there for fun .. not a high altitude training program .. Cheers ,... Happy Trails ... Dhananjay

@ishan Most of us had Indian MTB. Problem with them is that they are heavy..Find one which has less weight.
You may contact my friend sameer kelkar <@> he was our team leader. He was thinking about lhasha kathmandu cycling some time back.check some bikes at firefoxbikes.com
